Triad’s junior high football season kicked off on Thursday with a 26-14 victory over Northeastern.
Awsom Mitchell started the scoring for the Cardinals with a 67-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Caleb Thomas added to the score with a 12-yard rushing touchdown, a two-point conversion and a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kane Bailey.
Cam Thomas scored the final TD with a 27-yard run.
The Cardinals will host Madison Plains on Thursday.
Golfers triumph
Cole Pond and Maison Johnson both carded scores of 48 on Thursday as Triad’s boys golf squad beat Northeastern, 203-211.
The victory upped the Cardinals’ record to 7-5 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Payton Oyer shot a 53 and Devin Butz added a 54 for Triad.
Cardinals fall
Triad’s volleyball squad continued its struggles with a 3-25, 24-26, 27-25, 18-25 setback at the hands of Springfield Catholic Central.
The Lady Cardinals slipped to 1-8 overall and 1-6 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Triad stats for the match were as follows:
-Kendell Hughes: eight assists, 11 digs, five blocks, 22 attacks, six kills, 13 points;
-Kelsey Cole: 13 assists, seven blocks, 15 attacks, one kill, 14 points;
-Holly Alvoid: 39 assists, nine digs, 21 attacks, two kills, 12 points;
-Sidney Louck: nine assists, 13 digs, one block, 11 attacks, 15 points;
-Gracie Sheets: three assists, seven points;
-Emma Dorn: two assists, one block, four attacks, one kill;
-Jordyn Unger: 80 assists, five digs, 31 attacks, 11 points.
