The Fairbanks boys basketball team saw its winning streak snapped at nine with Tuesday’s 64-55 loss at Worthington Christian.
The Panthers, who had not lost since the opening game of the season against Jonathan Alder, fell behind 13-5 by the end of the opening period.
The Warriors took a 23-16 lead at halftime and a 47-36 margin into the final eight minutes of action.
“We just got off to a slow start and fell behind 8-0,” said head coach Justin George. “We didn’t play well in the first half, but we were still in there.
“We fell behind by 12 to 15 points during the second half, but were able to cut it to four with about three minutes left,” he said, adding the Panthers just couldn’t bring the spread any closer.
Cross Hackathorne led Fairbanks (9-2), which will travel to Greeneview on Friday, with 19 points. All of his markers came during the second half.

Pioneers win
Jonathan Alder’s boys upped their record to 9-3 with a 52-48 victory over Graham.
The Pioneers outscored the Falcons, 20-11, during the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
JA trailed 12-10 at the end of the first stanza and 27-24 by halftime.
Alder, which will travel to Bellefontaine on Friday, managed just eight points during the third quarter as Graham led, 37-32, when the final period got under way.
The Pioneers rallied during the fourth set for the win.
Jackie Santa-Emma led Alder with 20 points. Jackson Izzard joined him in double figures with 14.

Monarchs fall
Marysville’s boys hoop squad slipped to 5-7 on the season with a 69-44 setback at Delaware Hayes.
The Pacers jumped out to a 24-15 lead by the end of the opening quarter and held the Monarchs to seven points during the ensuing period.
Hayes took a 39-22 advantage into the half and a 58-34 margin into the fourth stanza.
Bodie Eberhart and Jack Christian both led MHS, which will travel to Westland on Friday, with 13 points apiece.

Triad’s boys cagers fell to Ridgemont by a 69-55 verdict.
The Cardinals (0-14) trailed, 40-23, at halftime and could not catch up with the Golden Gophers.
Drew Campbell led Triad, which will travel to Cedarville on Friday, with 18 points.
