The Marysville Junior Baseball-Softball Association has shut down its 2020 season.
The decision to halt the campaign is due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The season was scheduled to begin on May 2 with opening day festivities.
COVID-19 forced MJBSA to originally postpone the start of the campaign to June until it was canceled.
The Journal-Tribune has made repeated attempts over several days to confirm the rumors of the shutdown that were first reported a week ago.
The organization’s Facebook page posts comments from parents expressing their disappointment and understanding about the decision to forego the season.
The shutdown will impact nearly 600 boys and girls who would have played with teams on different age levels.
Kira Ishmael, who is the organization’s director of softball, expressed on the Facebook page that it was a very difficult decision to make.
No additional details were available to the Journal-Tribune by presstime.
