Editor’s note: This is the 61st of a series about growing up in Marysville during the late 1930s and the 1940s written by Bill Boyd. Each article is a snapshot of the people, businesses and activities during that era as seen through the eyes of a young boy.
Boyd was born in Marysville in 1932, graduated from Marysville High School in 1950, and lived the greater part of his life here.

Flossie and Herssie
In 1944, when I was 12 years old, I had a paper route for the ”Columbus Dispatch,” and I had 52 customers. On Thursdays, however, the man who distributed the papers also distributed a paper called the “Sunday Star.” It was a tabloid-size paper, and I got about 15 copies of it. I delivered one of those copies every Thursday to the Weiss Brothers Department Store.
