Union County law enforcement agencies, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Memorial Hospital, the Union County Drug Free Coalition and other local agencies, will sponsor a prescription drug take-back event Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at five locations throughout the county.

The free event gives residents an opportunity to safely dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications.

Collection locations include:

– Union County Sheriff’s Office, 221 W. Fifth St., Marysville.

– Pleasant Valley Fire Department, 650 W. Main St., Plain City.

– Jerome Township Fire Station, 11840 Ewing Road, Plain City.

– Richwood Police Department, 153 N. Franklin St., Richwood.

– Marysville Police Division at Walgreens, 180 Coleman’s Crossing Blvd., Marysville.

Pills, patches and other solid prescription medications will be accepted. Liquids, needles, sharps and over-the-counter medications will not be accepted. Vape pens and e-cigarette devices will be collected only if their batteries have been removed.

The collection process is anonymous, and no questions will be asked. Organizers recommend removing or marking out personal information on prescription packaging before turning it in.

The event is intended for household medications. Pharmaceutical waste from healthcare facilities or businesses will not be accepted.
