Despite decreasing birth rates throughout the U.S., the Marysville area is experiencing a baby boom. During 2018, the Obstetrics team at Memorial Hospital’s Miracle Life Center delivered 7% more babies. Since 2016, the team has seen a 16% increase in births. Ashley Boyer, Assistant Vice President and Nurse Executive at Memorial Hospital, said one of the reasons the hospital has seen such an increase stems from the fact that it draws patients from multiple regions. Wednesday at approximately 4 p.m. a wrong-way vehicle collided with a semi-truck on U.S. 33, causing it to roll over several times and causing a six-vehicle pileup. The driver, Richard Beesinger, 63, of Marysville, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under an OVI suspension and driving the wrong-way on a one-way road. The Union County Health Department is considering a policy that will allow parents to bring their young children to work. During the Union County Board of Health meeting Wednesday, members gauged interest in implementing an infant at work policy. The policy would allow parents to bring children to work until they are six months old, as long as the child is not yet mobile and is not experiencing any illness. Union County Health Commissioner Jason Orcena said not all positions would be eligible based on their responsibilities. Officials say the Village of Milford Center is losing nearly $24,000 a year as a result of discrepancies in water billing and infiltration issues. At Monday’s council meeting, Mayor Virgil Reisinger said there are 12 water meters in the village that are currently not functioning. He said the 12 non-functioning meters are causing discrepancies in billing, since those residences default to paying the minimum bill of $65.24 each month, regardless of their actual water consumption. “They just got lucky for a little bit, that’s all,” Councilman Ronald Payne said. The Union County-Marysville Economic Development Partnership has narrowed the pool of candidates for a new project coordinator position to three finalists. The Development Project Coordinator will function as a general project manager for the Union County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC). The individual who fills the position will initiate programs that further the economic development of Union County, Marysville and the 33 Smart Mobility Corridor. The three finalists for the position are Bradley Ingraham, Aaron M. Patrick and Thomas Wisemiller. Ingraham currently works at the Ohio Department of Education as a legislative liaison within the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs.…
