The Jonathan Alder School District has named their new junior high principal.
Ryan Malany was approved by the board of education on Monday during the district’s regular monthly meeting. Malany took over for the previous principal, Clint Hayes, who was recently named as the high school principal following previous principal, Michael Aurin’s decision to go to Dublin City Schools.
Malany is coming to Alder from Delaware City Schools where he is currently the principal at Woodward Elementary.
“Mr. Malany talked with a number of people here and just rose to the top as a candidate,” said Jonathan Alder District Superintendent Gary Chapman. “We’re really excited to have him.”
Malany holds bachelors of arts in middle childhood education from Ohio Northern University and a master of education in education administration from Bowling Green State University.
“I’m excited to join this community. It’s an active group and a passionate group,” Malany said. “It’s a district and a building that has a very rich tradition and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
Prior to Delaware, Malany was at Arcanum-Butler Local Schools in Darke County where he was an elementary principal for a combined total of seven years.
Malany also served as a Title I Coordinator and District Test Coordinator and prior to being a principal, he was a middle school language arts and social studies teacher for Kenton City Schools.
Mulany said he currently lives in Marysville.
“As I have learned more about the building, district, and community, it is evident that this is truly a special place,” Malany said. “Over the next few months, I am enthusiastic to get to know our students and their families as we prepare for an outstanding 19-20 school year.”
According to the superintendent, Malany’s salary will be $89,000 and he will officially start with Alder on Aug. 1.
