Dear editor,
On Feb. 25, I was fortunate to witness one of the most selfless acts of kindness I have ever had the privilege to observe. The wonderful students of Fairbanks Middle School — in all fairness, I believe there were also some high school kids there — held a basketball benefit for the special needs children. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such sportsmanship or acts of compassion in my life as I’ve seen with these young people. The special needs children walked with such confidence and pride that it made this proud grandparent of a special needs child misty-eyed.
