Trooper Michael J. Austin, of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was injured Friday evening when he was hit during a traffic stop near the intersection of state Route 347 and East Liberty Road. Austin was transported to Memorial Hospital and released.

A trooper from the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was injured after he was allegedly hit by a drunk driver.
In a statement, Lt. Robert Sellers with OSHP, said Trooper Michael J. Austin had made a traffic stop shortly before 5 p.m., Friday, near the intersection of State Route 347 and East Liberty Road.
Austin was standing outside his vehicle, when it was hit.
Chad Wall, 42, of Lakeview, was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town and County northeast on Route 357.
According to the police report, Wall “drove off the right side of the road” when he allegedly hit the cruiser, which then hit the trooper and the stopped car. According to the report, before Wall stopped, he ran over Austin’s foot.
Austin was transported to Memorial Hospital in Marysville and has been released. The other driver also received minor injuries. None of the injuries are life threatening, Sellers said.
Wall is charged with two counts of driving under the influence and aggravated vehicular assault. According to jail records, Wall has at least three prior drunk driving related charges.
