Local officials are trying to locate a driver that caused an ambulance to travel off the roadway and roll over while transporting a patient.
Sergeant Jeremy Allen of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said units responded to U.S. 36 south of Milford Center for the injury crash at 11:17 p.m. Tuesday.
He said Jeremy Moore, 38, of Marion, was driving a Mechanicsburg Fire Department ambulance northeast on U.S. 36 near mile post 4.
Another vehicle was traveling southwest on U.S. 36 when it allegedly entered the ambulance’s lane, then overcorrected.
Allen said Moore swerved to avoid the vehicle, causing the ambulance to spin and travel off the right side of the road then overturn.
He said no information is available regarding the second vehicle or the driver, who left the scene.
There were two passengers in the ambulance, including another member of Mechanicsburg Fire and EMS and a patient.
At the time of the accident, the male patient was being transported to a hospital for abdominal pain.
Allen said Moore was transported to Memorial Hospital by the Marysville Fire Department following the incident. He said the two passengers were transported as well.
The report lists “possible injuries” as a result of the crash, Allen said, but said he does not know the extent of the injuries each individual experienced.
The Union Township Fire Department, Allen Township Fire Department, Marysville Fire Department and Union County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol at the scene of the accident.
Allen noted that the incident is currently under investigation.
