Several area municipalities will be hosting Independence Day events.
Marysville
The Marysville Fourth of July Parade route begins at American Legion Park, where parade participants will line up in the old Kroger parking lot, travels east on Fifth Street to South Plum Street, turns West on Sixth Street and ends at the Union County Courthouse parking lot. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and last about an hour.
The Rock ‘N Ribs Festival will take place at the Union County Fairgrounds from noon until 10 p.m. The free event will feature a car show, pony rides, kids zone, barbeque, float contest, giveaways, bounce houses and a flea market.
Entertainment will begin at noon and will feature Harley Taylor, Lacey Lynn Lacey Hughes-Miller, Charles K. Sealy, Charlie’s Bacall’s Originals, Caroline&Dad, The Fifth House and Fullsend.
The city fireworks show will take place at dusk at the Union County Fairgrounds, 845 N. Main St.
Ostrander
The parade line-up will begin at 9 a.m. at the corner of Second and Henry Streets, with no pre-registration necessary. The Ostrander Civic Association recommends viewers of the parade arrive to park by 9:30 a.m., while the parade will kick off at 10 a.m.
Following the parade there will be a chicken barbeque dinner at the new location of the school shelter house, served until food runs out. There will also be other food options available all day.
At 12:30 p.m. there will be an Ostrander School Preview at the library and sign up for the kiddie tractor pull at the basketball court, which will take place at 1 p.m.
Folk singer Joanie Calem will perform at the library at 6:30 p.m. where the 50/50 raffle will also occur.
Live entertainment from Next of Kin will take place at the ball field from 5:30 p.m. until the fireworks show at dusk, around 10 p.m.
Plain City
Festivities will begin at noon in Pastime Park with bounce houses, food trucks and games. The parade will start promptly at 3 p.m. and line-up will take place an hour prior, at 2 p.m. Players from the Jonathan Alder State Champion softball team will act as grand marshals of the parade.
Following the parade, live music will start at 6 p.m. and end with the Dublin Symphony playing patriotic music during the fireworks display at dusk.
North Lewisburg
The village’s annual fireworks display will take place at dusk on Saturday, June 29.
Earlier that day, a men’s slow-pitch softball tournament will be held at the village park. Vendors will also be on hand at the park throughout the day. Donations will be accepted to help with the cost of future fireworks shows.
Prospect
There will be a Fourth of July celebration at Prospect Community Park sponsored by American Legion Post 368, Battle Run Fire and EMS Association and Prospect Lions.
The event will offer meals beginning at noon, including hamburgers, barbeque chicken, bratwurst, hot dogs, French fries, ice cream and funnel cakes. There will also be a variety of attractions and games for children, including pony rides from 1:30-9:30 p.m. and a performance by Honey Compass from 6-9 p.m.
