A Raymond man is dead following a one-vehicle crash in Paris Township.
Gary D. Jackson, 56, of Raymond, was pronounced dead Tuesday night at Grant Hospital in Columbus.
At about 9:20 p.m., the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a serious motor vehicle crash on Raymond Road, north of Barker Road.
According to information from the Sheriff’s Office, a 2006 GMC Acadia was driving on Raymond Road when the driver, later identified as Jackson, lost control of the vehicle. Jackson drove off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and a traffic sign, and came to rest on the bank of a creek.
“The driver was partially entrapped and suffered serious injuries,” according to information from the Sheriff’s Office.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Deputies and units from the Marysville Fire Department and the Allen Township Fire Department responded to the scene. Medflight was called to the scene. Jackson was flown to Grant Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation.
