Marysville’s Ballistic Armored Tactical Transport (BATT) arrived in the city last night. The BATT will serve a variety of purposes for the city’s police department. The vehicle weighs about 19,000 pounds — a school bus weighs about 25,000. The vehicle’s $241,000 price tag was paid using a combination of police impound funds and general fund money. Lt. Doug Ropp, right, and Assistant Chief Bo Spain, left, have been training with the vehicle for several days. City council approved the purchase nearly a year ago.
