Many Marysville sports fans realized when the home game against Dublin was moved to Saturday, it was due to a power outage Friday.
Mary Anne Kabel, DP&L director corporate communications, said there was a power outage that affected “20 customers.” Marysville High School (MHS) was one of them, and the outage lasted from 1 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.
The cause was primary cabling,” Kabel said. “They own their primary cabling and fusing, so they are responsible for their own repairs.”
Since the fusing did belong to MHS, it affected certain services in the school.
Mike White, director of business services for Marysville Schools, said is not known what caused the outage, and it “could have been anything.”
White said utilities, such as ceiling lights, were still operational, but other heavy-duty equipment like HVAC units were offline.
“At this point, we’re still trying to fix the problem,” White said. “We’re getting a high voltage company to look at a possible fix.”
The building’s functions were restored during the weekend thanks to the use of backup generators, just in time for the football game.
“These are big units,” White said. “They aren’t your backyard generators.”
He said the building is now operating “as it normally does.”
