On Thursday the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office located the body of Whitney Hostler, 25, in a wooded ravine near Kiser Lake Road.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into her death and on Friday arrested Rodney Rider Sr., 54, and Valerie Rider, 52, of 4078 Walnut St., Saint Paris, in connection with the Hostler’s death.
Valerie Rider was charged with the following offenses in the Champaign County Municipal Court:
-Murder, UF
-Tampering with Evidence, F3
-Gross Abuse of a Corpse, F5
-Possessing Criminal Tools, F5, three counts
Rodney Rider Sr. was charged with the following offenses in the Champaign County Municipal Court:
-Obstructing Justice, F3, two counts
-Tampering with Evidence, F3
-Gross Abuse of a Corpse, F5
-Possessing Criminal Tools, F5
The Defendants are expected to be arraigned in the Champaign County Municipal Court located at 205 S. Main St., Urbana, at a time yet to be determined.
Hostler, was last seen leaving a house in western Champaign County Wednesday and was not in contact with family members after that.
Investigators said family members became concerned for her well-being after she missed an appointment.
