As part of Union County Care Train’s annual auction, the All Ohio Balloon Festival has announced Cole Swindell will headline its Thursday night musical entertainment.
“Looking forward to next year, we are really excited to be able to bring such an incredible artist and event to Marysville and the Balloon Fest and to be able to help a great organization like the Care Train all at the same time,” Balloon Fest organizer Kevin Behrens said this morning.
The Care Train fundraiser is going on now and will conclude Friday with the annual live auction. This year’s All Ohio Balloon Fest (AOBF) will be held Aug. 12-14 at the Union County Airport.
Proceeds from the AOBF go to the Hope Center, though proceeds from the Care Train auction tickets will go to the Care Train.
“This event is a lot of fun for the participants, but we are also proud to be able to use it to help these community organizations,” Behrens said.
In addition to playing at the AOBF event, Swindell will spend the summer touring with Thomas Rhett’s “Center Point Road Tour.”
Swindell, a Grammy-nominated multi-platinum rising superstar, released “Single Saturday Night” for his fans in May to give them new music after he had to pause his headlining Down To Earth Tour and come off the road amidst the current COVID-19 crisis.
The massive fan response propelled “Single Saturday Night” to number seven on the all-genre iTunes chart during its week of release, even without country radio airplay. On Pandora, “Single Saturday Night” was the top thumbed song on its New Country Station for an unprecedented four consecutive weeks upon release. The response to the song from the fans was so overwhelming and positive that the song was added to country radio across America as the superstar artist’s 11th career single.
The Georgia native has played on some of the biggest stages in the world including making history being the first-ever live radio and TV broadcast from the 57th floor terrace of 4 World Trade Center, overlooking the Freedom Tower where he performed his hit “You Should Be Here.” He has played high-profile national television performances on NBC’s Citi Concert Series on TODAY, ABC’s Good Morning America, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC’s CMA Fest specials, CMA and ACM Awards, the MLB Network, NASCAR and Sports Illustrated among others.
The All Ohio Balloon Festival has become an annual summer staple for Union County. Swindell is the latest in a long list of national acts to play at the event, which combines music and balloons for one admission price. Jacked-Up will open for Swindell.
“The Journal-Tribune took over the event 15 years ago from the Chamber of Commerce and we want to reward our customers with the first opportunity to enjoy a national act coming to town,” Behrens said.
Journal-Tribune and Richwood Gazette subscribers can purchase Cole Swindell tickets from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Journal-Tribune office, 207 N. Main St. Tickets will go on sale to the public Thursday, Dec. 17 on Eventbrite.com or at the Journal-Tribune office.
In the six years since the release of his debut album, Swindell has toured with the biggest superstars in country music and officially became a headliner on his own Reason To Drink Tours in 2018. Swindell has sold out all four of his Down Home Tours in support of the Down Home Sessions. He kicked off his headlining Down To Earth Tour in March 2020 before it went on pause amidst the COVID-19.
Swindell has racked up an impressive nine number one singles and 11 number one singles as a songwriter, eight platinum singles, a platinum-certified debut album in “Cole Swindell” and a gold-certified second album with “You Should Be Here.” His number one hit “Break Up In The End” was named the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s (NSAI) Song of the Year for 2019.
He was named the NSAI Songwriter/Artist of the Year in 2016 and won CMA Triple Play Awards in both 2015 and again in 2016 for penning three number one songs in a 12-month span. He was Music Row’s Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year during his debut. Swindell’s top singles include “Chillin’ It,” “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight,” “Ain’t Worth The Whiskey,” “Let Me See Ya Girl,” “You Should Be Here,” “Middle of a Memory,” “Flatliner” and most recently “Love You Too Late.”
