Several projects around the City of Marysville are either about to start or are already on schedule, according to officials.
Marysville City Council received an update on work at Route 38 at Monday’s meeting. Earlier this year, Route 38, between Route 736 and Boerger Road, was lowered to improve traffic visibility in the area. Now, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is scheduled to begin repaving Route 38 leading out of the city.
Council member Henk Berbee asked City Engineer Jeremy Hoyt how the work on that road was coming along.
“(ODOT has) pushed it back a week at incremental times,” Hoyt said. “They usually let us know Wednesday or Thursday (if it will be pushed back again).”
Officials noted the road will remain open for residents who live along the stretch being replaced.
Berbee also asked how long the project might last. Hoyt said it shouldn’t take a long time.
“I’m guessing two weeks,” Hoyt said. “I see it as being a pretty quick operation.”
Hoyt also said the city is having ODOT do some additional milling in the area to improve visibility further.
According to Hoyt, the Mill Road extension from Route 31 to Route 4 is also coming along nicely. The storm sewer installation is expected to wrap up this week. Laying the base of the roadway is expected to start this week, too.
In talking about another big project in the city, Hoyt said the roadway paving for the first phase of the Route 31 widening project has finished up, and work on the sidewalk and multi-use path will start soon. He said that project is keeping pace with its schedule, and is under-budget so far.
Crews will begin paving the MacIvor Woods entrance next to Kroger this week.
“We’re not paving in MacIvor Woods,” Public Service Director Mike Andrako said. “We’re paving to the bottom of the hill.”
Crews will also start work repaving the portion of trail between the two baseball fields at Eljer Park. Andrako said workers will be preparing that area for work this week.
