A Dublin man could be facing nine decades in prison after allegedly raping a juvenile family member.
The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Sai Praveen Lingam, 46, of 8391 Nemain Loop, Dublin. Lingam is charged with one count of kidnapping and five counts each of rape, gross sexual imposition and sexual battery.
Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said that between Aug. 17, 2022 and Aug. 28, 2022, Lingam allegedly repeatedly had sex with a 16-year-old girl. He said Lingam and the girl “had a close relationship.” Court documents allege that on Aug. 19, the girl tried to get away.
“It is alleged that Mr. Lingam grabbed her and pulled her back into the car,” Phillips said.
Court documents allege Lingam “coerced” the girl to have sex on at least five separate occasions. He also allegedly used “force or threat of force” to get the girl to comply.
Phillips said the girl’s parents learned of the activity by going through “some electronic devices.”
Eventually the girl told her father what was happening and the pair went to the Dublin Police Department.
If convicted, Lingam could face more than 90 years in prison.
Also indicted was:
– Thomas F. Monahan, 43, of Columbus. Monahan is charged with one count each of possession of cocaine and trafficking in cocaine.
According to court documents, on June 29, a car Monahan was riding in was pulled over on U.S. 42 for having tinted windows. Phillips said that when the officer spoke with the driver, she showed “excessive nervousness.” Officers were told the pair was driving from Columbus to Marysville.
Phillips said a dog called to the scene alerted that there were drugs in the vehicle.
Investigators searched the vehicle and found a set of scales, baggies and baggies with powder.
The powder weighed more than 11 ounces and tested positive for cocaine. Phillips said cocaine was in baggies, “packaged to distribute.”
If convicted, Monahan could face more than 10 years in prison.
– Susan Lynn Bradford, 43, of Upper Sandusky. Bradford is charged with one count of aggravated possession of drugs and two counts of possession of drugs.
On May 31, Bradford pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs in Union County Common Pleas Court. She was ordered to participate in a presentence investigation to help the judge determine an appropriate sentence. On June 8, Bradford arrived at Union County Pretrial Services for the interview.
“Investigators observed she was wearing an excessive number of clothes — multiple socks, multiple shirts,” Phillips said.
A drug test was ordered and Bradford allegedly tested positive for cocaine.
“Officers located various drugs that were located on her person,” Phillips said.
Court documents allege investigators found at least three different types of drugs.
Bradford was placed on five years of community control for the drug offense she pleaded guilty to. If convicted, she could face as many as 36 months in prison.
