Community and Seasoned Citizens continues its eighth year of administering and distributing the Union County Senior Citizens Food Commodity Box.
The 30-pound box consists of two half-gallons of juice, two boxes of cereal, shelf safe milk, pasta, canned meats or pasta sauce, two cans of fruits packed in their own juice and two cans of vegetables along with a two pound box of processed cheese.
There are currently six openings to those who are 60 years of age, residents of Union County and meet income guidelines of $1,307 for a household of one and $1,760 for a household of two. The requirements will go up accordingly for larger households.
The Mid-Ohio Food Bank delivers these boxes to the Community and Seasoned Citizen Center at 900 Columbus Avenue each fourth Friday of the month. Those interested will need to fill out their own application with verification of age and address, and may name a proxy to pick the box.
Under certain circumstances there is a delivery service available when there is no other option. Residents do not need to bring proof of income. There are extra boxes on hand for December.
