Students at Marysville’s Navin Elementary School celebrated holidays around the world this week. Each class selected a country and made a display in their classroom or the gym, representing the variety of ways, including artwork, food, clothes and games, that nation’s culture observes its holidays. On Thursday, students “toured the world,” one display at a time. In the afternoon, students and community members offered performances representing cultures from around the world. Students representing 17 different countries attend Navin Elementary, including Venezuela, Guatemala, Nepal, Azerbaijan, India, Kenya, Tunisia, Mexico, Italy, Scotland, Israel, Spain, Ireland and Germany. Among the holidays children learned about were Día de los Muertos, Lunar New Year and Hanukkah.
