Plain City Parks and Recreation is offering a program for residents to stay active, despite the cold weather.
The Active Agers Indoor Walking Program is a fitness program aimed at providing a safe, comfortable environment to walk in during the winter months.
The program is free and open to anyone over the age of 45. Those interested do not have to be Plain City residents to participate.
All fitness levels are welcome to attend, as participants walk at their own pace.
In order to participate, a completed medical release form is required. The document can be accessed at https://www.plain-city.com/copy-of-parks-pool-1.
Participants can either print the form and bring a hard copy to the program, or fill it out online and email it to lgranger@plain-city.com.
Participants are advised to bring clean sneakers or other clean, comfortable footwear.
The program takes place at The Ball House, a large commercial building located at 327 W. Bigelow Avenue, Plain City. Those in attendance may simply pull into the lot and drive straight back to the building.
The Ball House is a safe environment with clean restrooms.
Although the building is climate controlled, it is often chilly so participants are advised to dress accordingly. Many walkers wear layers, as they become warmer as they exercise.
The program is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
There will be a “no-walk date” President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 17. Additionally, if school is cancelled, walking will be as well.
Since the program is designed for those 45 or older, no children or pets are permitted.
For more information, those interested may contact Linda Granger, Director of Parks and Recreation, at (614) 873-3527, extension 108.
