Plain City’s indoor walking program kicked off this week.
The village’s Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Active Agers Walking Program began on Wednesday.
“It might be cold and snowy outside, but you can keep your fitness (and fun) goals for 2024 in a warn, clean, climate controlled building,” officials wrote in a release about the program.
The program, which takes place at the Ball House at 327 W. Bigelow St., encourages residents to stay active by consistently walking indoors during the colder months.
The Ball House offers a safe environment with clean restrooms for adults to exercise in. There is plenty of parking outside the building.
Those who participate are encouraged to walk at their own pace, at whatever speed they are most comfortable.
Walking sessions will be hosted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The program will be held through March 22, although Feb. 19 is an off day.
If school is cancelled, Active Agers Indoor Walking will be canceled as well.
The program is free to adults who are 18 years of age or older.
Event organizers noted that pets and children are not allowed at the indoor walking program.
Those who would like to participate must complete and submit a waiver of liability before doing so. The waiver is available on the Plain City Facebook page or village website, www.plain-city.com.
Those who have questions or would like more information should call Denton Kitts with the Plain City Parks and Recreation Department at (614) 873-3527 ext. 108.
