A fatal car crash occurred on U.S. 33, in Jerome Township, at 9:07 p.m. Tuesday night.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), Gilliam White, 21, of Marysville, was heading eastbound on U.S. 33. However, White’s maroon 2003 Honda Civic slid off the left side of the roadway and went through the median. According to OSHP, White lost control of the vehicle due to snowy weather conditions affecting the roads.
White then struck a red 1987 Acura Integra, driven by Elise McCoy, 48, of Marysville, who was heading westbound. Both vehicles eventual came to rest, blocking U.S. 33.
McCoy was found dead at the scene, and White was transported to Riverside Hospital.
Units from the Union County Sheriff’s Office and Jerome Township and Pleasant Valley Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
