SANCHEZ
––––
Union County Sheriff’s deputies used a stun gun on a man reportedly breaking out car windows Monday.
At about 2:25 p.m. deputies received reports of a man, Joseph M. Sanchez, 21, on Corporate Boulevard using a hammer to break out car windows.
According to Chief Deputy Tom Morgan, four deputies pursued Sanchez after arriving on the scene. In less than a minute, deputies used a stun gun to subdue Sanchez before taking him to the Tri-County Regional Jail. Official charges are obstructing official business, assault and warrants out of Franklin County.
Right now, the Sheriff’s Office only knows of one outstanding warrant from Franklin County, which is listed as receiving stolen property.
Morgan said it appears only one vehicle was affected. He said Sanchez and the vehicle owner might have been engaged in a dispute before the incident, though motive is still being determined.
“That part is still under investigation,” Morgan said.
Morgan said the most current address for Sanchez the Sheriff’s Office has is in Niceville, Florida.
