The National Weather Service is expected to be in the area today to evaluate damage after a storm Monday. High winds and rain moved through east central Union County Monday evening. Initial review shows damage mostly in Leesburg and Dover Townships consisting of large and small trees, one barn, a few small sheds, and some singles off homes. The NWS advised The Union County Emergency Management Agency Director Brad Gilbert that radar in the location of the storm did show rotation. No reports of a funeral cloud or tornado were received. EMA staff is working with the National Weather Service Office (NWS) in Wilmington to determine if the damage was a result of high winds or a small tornado. No official wind speeds were reported and Gilbert said, “early reports are showing four to five inches of rain fell the past 24 hours across Union County.” (Photos submitted)
