Marysville Mayor J.R. Rausch speaks to the crowd at the new Kroger Marketplace’s grand opening this morning. The store opened at 8 a.m., while the ceremony was at 9 a.m. During the ceremony the results of an online vote by shoppers were announced, resulting in Marysville Care Train being given $2,000, Marysville Band Boosters being given $3,000 and the Union County Humane Society being given $5,000. The new store is about 126,000 square feet, and is replacing the old store that opened in 1982. The first 300 customers of the day received a free reusable shopping bag and Kroger gift card.
