One person was killed and three others injured in a head-on crash in Union Township Friday afternoon
At approximately 4:53 pm, the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting a two-vehicle head-on crash with serious injuries on U.S. 36, west of Route 4.
Deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene and found a 2004 Honda Element and a 2004 Ford F-150 involved in the crash.
One unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s reports did not indicate which vehicle the victim was traveling in or if the deceased was a driver or passenger. The report also did not indicate the sex or age of the victim.
MedFlight was called to the scene and transported one victim to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, a second to Memorial Hospital and a third to Riverside Methodist Hospital.
The Union County Coroners Office was called to the scene and U.S. 36 remained closed into Friday evening.
The crash is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Multi-County Crash Investigation Team.
Units from the Union Township Fire Department, Pleasant Valley Fire District and the Allen Township Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
