The Village of Plain City will be hosting an alternative Halloween event, along with trick-or-treat, in light of COVID-19.
Village council earlier decided to set Plain City’s trick-or-treat time for 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.
Following the traditional event, there will be a costume party in Pastime Park from 5-7 p.m. Parks and Recreation Director Linda Granger said it will be the village’s first annual Halloween event.
The event will feature a “trick-or-treat alley” that children can walk through to receive candy, rather than going door-to-door in neighborhoods.
There will also be music, food trucks and free ice cream, while supplies last.
Additionally, those who dress up will have a chance to win a door prize or be featured on the village’s social media in a special post called “Caught Being Costumed.”
Admission to the event is free, but those in attendance are asked to bring a canned or packaged good to benefit local food pantries.
Any individuals or businesses interested in passing out their own candies or treats to community members are encouraged to contact Granger at lgranger@plain-city.com to receive safety guidelines.
