The businesses of Plain City are hosting a special Ladies’ Night event prior to Mother’s Day weekend.
Mayor Jody Carney said a number of Uptown businesses will offer promotions from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 6.
Each participant can pick up a “passport” at any of the participating businesses.
Throughout the night, they can stop by each store to receive a stamp. If they complete their passport, Carney said they will be entered in a raffle to win a prize basket.
She noted that a group of local businesses – including some not participating in Ladies’ Night – made donations toward the prize basket.
While the pandemic has kept people home through much of the past year, Carney noted that several new businesses have opened in the village during that time.
New residents are also moving to the area, she added.
That encouraged her to begin brainstorming how to “raise awareness” of the amenities available in Plain City.
She said Ladies’ Night is likely the first of a number of events that will draw residents to the Uptown area.
Carney said village administration is “in the planning stages” of future nights that encourage residents to patronize Uptown businesses after hours during special events.
