Plain City has will soon have a new administrator at its helm.
Following Village Administrator Nathan Cahall’s resignation, Council moved Monday to appoint Management Analyst Haley Lupton as the Acting Administrator.
Mayor Jody Carney said Tuesday that Cahall has accepted a position as the City of Middletown’s finance director.
In a letter to council dated Oct. 19, Cahall resigned from his position effective Nov. 19.
“I wish to thank Council for the opportunity to serve the village,” he wrote.
Carney explained that Cahall will continue in his role as administrator and will “mentor” Lupton until his employment with the village ends.
She said council intends to post the administrator position and hire externally, but “wanted to get someone in place during the transition.” Since current staff “knows everything and is up to speed,” Carney said council felt Lupton was the best fit to fill in during the interim.
“We felt confident naming her as the acting administrator,” Carney said.
For now, Lupton will “be covering both roles,” Carney said – her current responsibilities and more administrator duties.
After appointing Lupton, council shared a round of applause for Cahall.
Council President John Rucker said Cahall arrived at Plain City at a time the village was “floundering.” With Cahall’s guidance, Rucker said he feels the village is now “set on a flight path for success.”
Carney echoed his sentiments Tuesday and said she is wishing Cahall well in his future endeavors.
