The Plain City Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a workshop for community members interested in learning how to successfully plant trees.
“Trees 101” will be hosted at the Cattle Barn shelter in Pastime Park, located across from the gazebo, at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6.
The introductory workshop will be presented by a local Ohio Department of Natural Resources urban forester.
The forester will share the most current information on how to successfully plant a tree, including basic planting and care techniques.
Topics will include choosing varieties of trees, selecting the best location, planting methods and ways to take care of a new tree to ensure its success.
Presenters will plant a tree as part of the demonstration.
The program is free to the public and open for anyone to attend.
There will also be a drawing for free tree watering bags at the event.
The village will have future opportunities to celebrate trees during the Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration on April 22 at Pastime Park.
The celebration includes a tree giveaway from 4-7 p.m.
