The Plain City Police Department is urging residents to be on the look out for solicitation activity in the village without a permit.
In a social media post, the department said any solicitor needs to have a permit that comes directly from the office.
“With the warmer weather upon us, many companies try to solicit your business by going door-to-door to your residences,” according to the PCPD. “If someone comes to your door and is soliciting orders for, or selling goods, wares, merchandise or services of any kind, they must possess a valid solicitor permit that is issued by the Plain City Police Department.”
The department said individuals “must carry the permit on their person at all times, while conducting business in the Village of Plain City.”
“If they do not have a valid permit, refuse to show it to you, don’t leave when asked or come to your house that is currently on the No Knock Registry, contact the police department immediately,” according to the post. “Failure to comply with any of the above could result in criminal charges and/or having the solicitor permit revoked.”
For more information on Issued Solicitor Permits, No Knock Registry or the Plain City Ordinance, residents can reference the village website or the PCPD social media pages. The available information only pertains to residents within the municipality and does not apply to any commercial property, according to the PCPD.
