The Village of Plain City was recently recognized by Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Director Anne M. Vogel as one of 48 businesses and organizations that are going above and beyond to protect Ohio’s environment and practicing their commitment to environmental stewardship.
The Ohio EPA’s Encouraging Environmental Excellence in Communities (E3C) program recognizes local governments and communities, which can work toward three levels of recognition: Achievement, Silver, and Gold.
The Village achieved a level of Silver in the Encouraging Environmental Excellence program by implementing many features and programs that are environmentally responsible, such as installing LED lighting in the Village Municipal Building, utilizing room occupancy sensors, installing energy efficient windows and doors, holding annual recycling events for the community and many other initiatives.
Additionally, the Village has installed rain gardens and pollinator gardens on Village property. The Village will continue to strive to enact environmentally conscientious programs and policies as a key priority whenever possible.
