Route 736, between Marysville and Plain City was closed for a house fire Tuesday afternoon. At 4:26 p.m., crews were called to 8500 Route 736. At the scene, firefighters found light smoke coming from the basement of the house. Crews found a small fire in the basement. While investigating, fire officials found some structural damage to the house. Jerome Township Fire Chief Doug Stewart said it looks like a propane tank exploded, causing the damage. Union County Building Officials were called to the home to assess the damage. Officials said there were no injuries at the scene. The Red Cross is assisting the family. Officers from the Union County Fire Investigation Team are working to determine an official cause for the fire. In addition to the Jerome Township Fire Department, officials from Pleasant Valley Fire District, Marysville Division of Fire and crews from Washington, Union, Allen, Concord and Scioto townships assisted at the scene.
