Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound at a residence in the 25000 block of Neel Road.
A report came in Wednesday at about 5:42 p.m. of a 62 year old man who accidentally shot himself in the leg with a 22-caliber handgun. According to Chief Deputy Tom Morgan, he reportedly shot himself after tripping and falling. The report says he was carrying the weapon in his hand.
According to the report, a family member was present at the residence.
The man was taken to Memorial Hospital and then to the Ohio State University Medical Center via MedFlight.
Morgan said it’s too early to speak to any charges that might be brought forth.
“It’s still very early, so I think we have to do some follow-up interviews,” he said.
