The Union County Fair has added a country musician Gary Allan to this year’s roster of entertainment.
This morning, fair officials announced that Allan, a six-time Academy of Country Music Awards nominee, will perform Saturday, July 31 at the Union County Fair.
The 2021 Union County Fair will be held July 25 through July 31.
Board members have said it is important to return to normal for the fair, which is celebrating its 175th year.
In a statement, Fair Board President Jared Kuhlwein said that after the COVID-19 pandemic limited last year’s fair, the board is “excited to bring such a big name in country music.
“After the scaled-back fair we had last year, we wanted to bring excitement and entertainment back for fairgoers and the Union County community,” Kuhlwein wrote.
Last month, Allan released his first album in eight years, Ruthless. The album is a collection of 13 songs and is the follow-up to 2013’s Set You Free. Allan has also released several singles since that album. Ruthless is Allan’s tenth studio album. Allan’s hits include “Man to Man,” “Tough Little Boys,” “Nothing on but the Radio,” “Every Storm” and “Watching Airplanes.”
In addition to Allan’s concert on the final night, the fair grandstand entertainment will also include a demolition derby on Sunday, straw stacking races on Monday, a tough truck competition on Tuesday, motocross racing on Wednesday, rodeo on Thursday, and truck and tractor pulls on Friday.
Officials said there are plans to have popular food vendors, games, animals, camping, junior fair events, harness racing, sales, open shows, exhibitors, rides and everything residents have come to expect from the fair.
Fair officials said they believe there will not be capacity limitations or mask orders.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday, online at ohiounioncountyfair.com. Concert tickets will include admission into the Fair. Fair admission tickets can be purchased at the fair office or online at ohiounioncountyfair.com/tickets.
