On Friday at 12:30 p.m., fourth graders at Fairbanks Elementary School used baking soda and vinegar to create “eruptions” in volcanoes they constructed out of papier mâché and water bottles. School officials would not identify students shown in the photo. The demonstration wrapped up a lesson on geology and land science. After spring break, the students will be learning about fossils.
