The temperature reading under the McAuliffe’s Ace Hardware sign shows a strange reading Tuesday afternoon after a power outage caused in malfunction. According to Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) spokeswoman Mary Kabel, an excavator working near the company’s substation at 1201 West Fifth Street accidentally knocked down a power line at about 12:30 p.m. Kabel said about 1,700 customers lost power. She singled out the areas of West Fifth Street, Route 245 and Creekview Drive as being affected. “The crews were dispatched upon receipt of the call,” Kabel said. The power was reportedly restored at 1:44 p.m. Among the buildings affected during the outage was the City of Marysville Police and Court building on West Fifth Street. “We had some issues with the generators providing power,” said City Public Service Director Mike Andrako. He said city staff eventually fixed the problem, and the generators provided electricity as intended.
