Memorial Hospital officials marked the end of steel placement on its new inpatient facility Friday afternoon with a “Topping Ceremony,” or an event marking the final steel beam being placed. Pictured, construction workers attached the beam to a crane, then place it on the third floor of the unfinished building. Memorial employees and community members signed the beam before placement. The new facility is part of the hospital’s Memorial 2020 project. According to a release from the hospital, the main structure is composed of about 400 tons of steel and 1,320 yards of concrete.
