Discovery Riders, Inc., a non-profit, therapeutic equestrian learning and riding center, is offering a volunteer training workshop on June 15.
The organization serves individuals of all ages four years or older with special emotional needs, communication disorders, physical challenges and learning disabilities.
Prior experience with horses is not required of volunteers, as there are opportunities to volunteer with riding lessons, cleaning barn stalls, caring for horses, or clerical and janitorial work. However, all volunteers who would like to assist with riding lessons must be at least 14 years old and able to walk for an hour.
After training, all new volunteers will be paired with a mentor to assist them until they feel comfortable in their role.
Training will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 1797 State Route 47 E, Bellefontaine. For more information, those interested may contact Sarah McDivitt at info@discoveryriders.org or call 937-935-6549.
