The UWUC’s Community Investment Committee (CIC) conducted annual site visits last fall to review best practices for each of the non-profit’s 26 partner agencies.
The Community Investment Committee is comprised of 23 local volunteers from the business, education and social service sectors and United Way staff. The committee meets on a regular basis and breaks up into teams. The teams are each assigned two or three partner agencies. From there each team meets with the partner agency and conducts a comprehensive review.
“We hold our partner agencies accountable to ensure donor dollars are being used in the most effective and relevant way possible to meet the needs of those utilizing services,” Dave Gleeson, UWUC Board Chair and Community Investment Committee Chair.
The 2018-19 Give United Campaign Goal of $1,000,060 will come up slightly short at 88 percent ($880,000). Unfortunately, that means full funding requests from partner agencies could not be met.
“Our campaign has been stagnant for a decade, while expenses and partner agency requests continue to increase,” Gleeson said, “Keeping our expenses down and guaranteeing that a minimum of 80 percent of all donations are directed to necessary programs and partners agencies is our number one goal.”
The United Way of Union County will distribute $540,345 to local partner agencies and programs in 2019
The organization raises funds through workplace campaigns, individual gifts, sponsorships, and events.
“As Union County continues to grow and prosper we are always looking for new ways to partner with our community and live our mission which is bringing neighbors and resources together to improve lives,” Campaign Director Corinne Bix said.
