STEVENS
––––
A local man has been indicted on drug charges following an undercover investigation.
The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Dalton Joseph Stevens, 23, of 409 E. Fourth St., Marysville. Stevens is charged with one count each of trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and aggravated possession of drugs.
Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said Stevens’ name came up during an investigation. Police officials said “community involvement” helped investigators identify Stevens and connect him to another home.
“There had been some undercover buys made,” Phillips said.
Police officials said it was information gathering and “community involvement” that helped investigators identify the home as a place of interest
As they investigated, police determined they had enough information to get a search warrant.
“Through some intelligence, we learned that he might be in possession of some firearms, so we took that very seriously for the safety of our officers and the community,” Marysville Division of Police Deputy Chief Tony Brooks said.
On May 18, members of the Maryville Division of Police’s Special Response Team along with deputies from the Union and Franklin county sheriff offices, executed a search warrant at 836 Collins Ave., Apt. 6, in the city of Marysville.
Brooks said the first thing they encountered when they got through the door was an armed man, Douglas Eric Summers, 23, of West Mansfield.
Investigators also located Stevens, the subject of the search warrant, inside the home.
“Doing the actual search, investigators found marijuana; meth; tactical body armor; weapons including rifles, handguns, shotguns; counter surveillance devices; as well as devices used for packaging and sale of drugs; and a significant amount of cash,” Brooks said.
According to the indictment, officials also found cocaine in the home. The marijuana was packaged in sealed bundles, allegedly operated for sale.
A woman and a young toddler were also inside the home.
Phillips said that while he doesn’t want any drug dealers in Union County, he is especially glad to have Stevens in custody.
“He is alleged to be a drug trafficker and given the guns and weapons he had at hand, along with the vest, it appears he was particularly dangerous to law enforcement and to the community,” Phillips said.
If convicted on all charges, Stevens could face as many as four and a half years in prison. Additionally, prosecutors are looking to seize seven guns, $534 in cash and a diamond ring they believe were used during the illegal activity.
Summers, 23, of West Mansfield, is charged with having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony. Summers has a prior domestic violence conviction meaning he is not allowed to own have or live in a home with guns.
Also indicted were:
Mason Riley Fox, 19, of 702 Meadow Dr., Marysville, and Haley Marie Fox, 22, of 368 Carrol St., Kenton. Both women are charged with one count of trafficking in marijuana, stemming from a May 18 incident. If convicted, each woman could face as many as 12 months in prison.
Alyssa M. Carver and Timothy Lloyd Kerns Holton. Carver, 25, of 18708 Main St., Raymond.
Carver and Holton are each charged with one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
Charges against the pair stem from an investigation into activities at a Titus Road home. Eventually law enforcement officials raided the home finding drugs, cash, drug paraphernalia, a drug ledger, a safe with cash, equipment to manufacture and distribute drugs and a variety of weapons.
Law enforcement officials said the investigation included heroin, methamphetamines, cocaine, “every type of drug.”
Several individuals were charged with drug and probation related charges at that time. In March, the grand jury made additional indictments. Recently, the grand jury expanded the list of charges and defendants.
In addition to the recent corrupt activity charge, Carver has also been charged with multiple counts of corruption another with drugs and one count of trafficking in heroin.
If convicted on all counts, Carver could face as many as 33 years in prison.
Holton could face as many as eight years in prison.
Amber Lynn Brand, 25, of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Brand is charged with one count of aggravated possession of drugs, stemming from a June 30 incident involving amphetamines. If convicted, Brand could face as many as 12 months in prison.
