The city’s newest park, Morey Park, was dedicate Friday as part of the city’s bicentennial celebration. Initially, the space was to be called Bicentennial Park, but earlier this year officials from Memorial Health asked if the park could be renamed in honor of philanthropist Dana Morey. Memorial Health will pay for a plaque in the park explaining who Morey was and why he was important to the community. Memorial Health paid about $255,000 of the park’s projected $275,000 price tag. Above, Mike Hansel, of Hydrotech Irrigation, works to make final installation of the parks watering system. Officials said the rock wall inside the baskets will stay as part of the park.
