A Marion woman has been indicted after allegedly having and attempting to hide a baseball sized bag of meth.
The Union County Grand Jury has indicted Cynthia Fay Boston, 47, of Marion, charging her with one count each of aggravated trafficking in drugs and aggravated possession of drugs. According to court documents, on Aug. 6, Boston was driving on U.S. 33 near U.S. 42. She was allegedly stopped for not displaying a license plate. Officers learned she was also allegedly driving on a suspended license.
Union County Prosecutor Dave Phillips said that during the stop, the deputy “observed the driver attempt to conceal a baggie in her shorts.”
The deputy called for additional support. Phillips said a search of the vehicle revealed “a baseball sized” bag of what was determined to be methamphetamine. Additionally, he said investigators found burnt tinfoil and other items that were “indicators of drug use.”
He said the woman admitted to investigators that the drugs were hers.
Phillips said that when the drugs were tested, there were nearly 55 grams of meth. He said three grams is considered a bulk amount of the drug. Court documents allege the woman had intended to sell the drugs.
If convicted, Boston could face as many as 16 years in prison. Additionally, prosecutors are asking that the woman be required to forfeit more than $600 they believe were proceeds from the sale of drugs and going to be used to purchase additional drugs.
Also indicted was:
– Angela K. Harrison, 48, of Columbus. Harrison is charged with one count of aggravated possession of drugs.
According to court documents, at about 6:11 p.m. April 15, Harrison was driving her 1998 Honda on U.S. 33 and got pulled over for not having a muffler on the vehicle. She was also charged with not wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators allegedly found oxycodone as well as a straw containing white residue and a metal grinder and pipe with marijuana residue.
If convicted, Harrison could have faced as many as 18 months in prison.
– Keith David McCoy, 37, of 31727 Hamilton Rd., Richwood. McCoy is charged with one count each of illegal conveyance of drugs and possession of drugs.
According to court documents, on Feb. 22, McCoy was at Union County Common Pleas Court for Drug Court. Phillips said he was ordered to perform a drug test. As a result, McCoy was arrested by the probation department and taken to Tri-County Regional Jail.
When McCoy was searched at the jail, officers allegedly found buprenorphine in the man’s sock. The man allegedly told investigators the buprenorphine was an adhesive bandage.
Buprenorphine is used to treat pain as well as addiction to narcotic pain relievers.
If convicted, McCoy could face more than five years in prison.
– Kylee Marie Edwards, 22, of 36 N. Main St., Magnetic Springs. Edwards is charged with one count of aggravated of possession of drugs.
According to court documents, the charges stem from a Sept. 10 incident involving methamphetamines.
If convicted, Edwards could face as many as 12 months in prison.
– Derek Lee Moore, 38, whose court-listed address is the streets of Columbus. Moore is charged with one count of aggravated possession of drugs.
According to court documents, on July 21, Moore was found asleep in a car at a local apartment complex. When police spoke with him, they learned he was wanted for failure to appear on a felony warrant in Fayette County.
When investigators searched Moore and his property, they allegedly found meth in his possession.
If convicted on the Union County, Moore could face as many as 12 months in prison.
– Christopher M. Smith, 47, of West Mansfield. Smith is charged with one count of possession of drugs.
According to court documents, on Oct. 23, Smith was pulled over as part of a traffic stop. As part of the arrest, Smith’s car was searched and investigators allegedly found buprenorphine.
In 2014, Smith was convicted of felony possession of heroin in Union County.
If convicted, Smith could face as many as 12 months in prison.
– Kea Renee Lewis, 32, of Bellefontaine. Lewis is charged with one count of aggravated possession of drugs, stemming from an Aug. 27, incident.
According to court documents, Lewis was driving west on U.S. 33 when she was pulled over for allegedly swerving in and out of the traffic lanes.
She was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and failure to drive in the marked lanes.
As a result of the traffic stop, Lewis’ car was searched. Investigators allegedly found more than a bulk amount of amphetamines.
If convicted on the drug charge, Lewis could face as many as five years in prison.
