A short pursuit on U.S. 36 ended in Union County Deputies using a stun gun on a Kenton Woman Sunday evening.
At about 6:30 p.m. deputies stopped Abby L. Small, 27, on U.S. 33 at U.S. 36 for lack of a license plate on her vehicle. According to Chief Deputy Tom Morgan, when a deputy walked up to her window she refused to open it and turned up the volume of her radio.
She then drove off onto U.S. 36 toward Delaware. Two Sheriff’s Office vehicles gave chase, though pursuit never went over 60 miles per hour.
“She simply refused to stop,” Morgan said.
Delaware County deputies deployed stop sticks at U.S. 36 and Ostrander Road, and Small came to rest just east of that intersection. The pursuit was over by 6:39 p.m.
Deputies managed to get Smalls’ vehicle door open, at which point she refused to comply. She attempted to climb over to the passenger’s side of her vehicle when deputies used a stun gun on her.
She was charged with failure to comply with an order of signal of a police officer and was taken to the Tri-County Regional Jail. Morgan said she has an outstanding warrant out of Allen County for failure to appear in court for possession of marijuana.
Since she was outside the pickup radius for the warrant, it is not factoring into her arrest.
