Arlie H. Ferguson, 87, of Marysville, died Saturday evening, July 8, 2017, at his home following many months of failing health. He retired from General Motors.
As a man of great faith, he was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, where he was the past grand knight and faithful navigator. He and his wife, Rosemary, were very active in volunteer work through their church. In his later years of retirement, he was known to enjoy making rosary beads.
He served in the U.S. Army for nine years and was a highly decorated Korean War Veteran. He was a life member of VFW Post #3320 in Marysville and was active in the Union County Honor Guard until his health kept him from participating.
He was born on Jan. 1, 1930, in Bronx, New York City, New York, to the late Arlie R. and Isabelle Dederick Ferguson. He married the former Rosemary M. Peloso on May 5, 1957, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary; their children, Anna Marie (Charles) Inman of Marysville, Joseph A. Ferguson of Marysville and Frederick K. (Rhonda) Ferguson of Cadiz; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ingram Funeral Home, with a rosary service to be read at 8 p.m. The Rev. Kevin Kavanagh will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Military honors will be provided by the Union County Honor Guard. Burial will follow in the afternoon at the Springboro Cemetery in Springboro.
