Barbara Ann Bouic, 80, of Ostrander, died unexpectedly Monday evening, March 11, 2019, at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
After graduating from Malone College, she taught for a year in Tuscarawas County before teaching for the Columbus Public Schools until 1979. Through the years, she also taught part time at Fairbanks School and St. John’s Lutheran School. A person of great faith, she was a longtime member of Dublin Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. While wintering in Florida she would also sing with the Silver Clouds Chorus. Adventurous by nature, she also enjoyed spending time hiking in Hocking Hills.
She was born Oct. 28, 1938, in Columbus, to the late Ralph and Merle Ross Matthews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Carolie McClish, and brother, Ralph Matthews Jr.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Frank Allen Bouic, whom she married July 21, 1979; sister, Marilyn Jo Matthews; brothers-in-law, Richard (Harriet) McClish, Walter (Marie) Bouic and Don (Phyllis) Bouic; sister-in-law, Ann (Ed) Yadon; nieces and nephews, Kathy (Kevin) O’Conner, Susan (Doug) Marsico, Rick (Jennifer) McClish, Jodi Barth, Scott Barth, Robert (Angie) Bouic, Susan (Randy) Jackson, Janice (Brian) Barrett, Cheryl (Tim) Redfern, Mary (Mike) Schmidt, Patti (Steve) Roush and Daniel (Ashlee) Bouic; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. J.D. Davis will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may call one hour prior to service time beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
In her memory, contributions may be made to Dublin Baptist Church or Malone University in care of the funeral home.
