Barbara Lee McKelvey Asbury, 74, of Richwood, died peacefully, Friday, July 21, 2017, at her home.
She was a bookkeeper and tax preparer in the Richwood area for 40 years. She was member of New Horizons Baptist Church in Marysville.
She served as secretary at the former Faith Baptist Temple for 27 years with Pastor Morgan Miller. She also was a Sunday school teacher and witnessed her Christian faith through outreach.
She especially loved interaction with children and enjoyed hosting weekly Bible study in her home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1942, in Columbus. She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Don and Mary McKelvey; her mother, Marcy; her husband of 48 years, Earnest M. “Totter” Asbury; her brother, Donald McKelvey; and her sister and sister-in-law.
She is survived by her loving son, Michael E. Asbury of Richwood; a brother, Robert McKelvey, and a sister, Patricia Storts; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and special sisters of the Lord, Cindy Williams, Marsha Phillips and Gayle Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at New Horizons Baptist Church, 17939 Paver Barnes Road, where the family will receive friends beginning at noon.
A luncheon will follow the funeral and graveside services will be held at 3:15 p.m. at Claibourne Cemetery. Pastor Roger Williams will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Horizons Baptist Church.
