Betty C. Koltenbah, 94, of Marysville, died Thursday evening, Nov. 29, 2018, at Bluebird Retirement Center, following many months of failing health.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and a ruling elder of the church. She was a longtime volunteer at Memorial Hospital, devoting many hours of service as a member of Twig 4.
For many years, while it was active, she was the secretary of the Union County Builders Association. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid supporter of The Ohio State University’s girls basketball team, being a season ticket holder for many years. She was often found cooking in the kitchen and will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies and potato salad.
She was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Hardin County, to the late Amil and Dora Dirmeyer Buerger. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, R. Kenneth Koltenbah, who died in 1993; son, Kenny Lee, who died in 1961; daughter, Dianne Wheat, who died in 2013; siblings and their spouses, Edith and Roscoe “Dutch” Connolly and Donald and Alice Buerger; and nephews, Dwight Connolly, Larry Buerger and Freddie Buerger.
She is survived by her children, Carol (David) Gibson and James “Jim” (Christel) Koltenbah; son-in-law, Robert Wheat; grandchildren, Brad (Kristin) Gibson, Angela (Josh) Dillahunt, Jason (Shari) Anderson, Brian (Crissy) Wheat and Kelly Wheat Chiusano; nine great-grandchildren; niece, Rosemary (Bob) Hare; and nephew, Phillip (Sarah) Connolly.
Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Ingram Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeffrey Schooley will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Koltenbah Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
