Betty E. Nicol, 94, of North Canton and formerly of Marysville, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton.
A loving homemaker, she was formerly a 4H leader and enjoyed painting, reading, solving crossword puzzles and especially spending time with her family. She graduated from Marysville High School, formerly attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Marysville and most recently attended Advent Lutheran Church in Uniontown.
She was born on March 29, 1923, in Marysville, to the late Albert and Eleanor “Clara” Geer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nicol, who died in 1991; sons, Ray and Ronald Nicol; and brothers, Charles and Fredrick Geer.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Jay) Meena of Columbus, Wayne Nicol of Uniontown, Jan (Robin) Just of Hartville, Mary (George) Simopoulus of Noblesville, Indiana, Carole Alexander of Glendale, Arizona and David (Jeannette) Nicol of Springville, California; grandchildren, Robert, Rachel, Heather, Erin, Ben, Hannah, Stephanie, Alex and Liana; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Geer of Marysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Kathy Reiff will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Burial will follow next to her husband at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
